BENI is a nonprofit community-based organization that works to foster an environment where residents, business owners, and stakeholders feel confident to invest their time, energy, and money.  We are a Healthy Neighborhoods and Baltimore Main Streets partner organization, as well as a HUD-certified comprehensive housing counseling agency.

Our office is a lively hub of neighborhood activities and services.  Whether you want to buy a house or throw the best block party ever, we are here to help you make it happen.

Afya Baltimore is a public Charter Middle School opening with a focus on health and wellness to be located behind the Shrine of the Little Flower right here in Belair-Edison.  The school is currently accepting applications for 6th grade. To learn more, visit their home page at Afya Baltimore.
The Green School of Baltimore is a public Charter Elementary School that integrates environmental studies into all areas of its curriculum.  For more information, call The Green School at 410-485-2102. 

Baltimore Homeownership Preservation Coalition
The Baltimore Homeownership Preservation Coalition formed to address the high number of home foreclosures in the city. The aim of this effort is to help families stay in their homes, which also strengthens the neighborhoods in which they live.

Baltimore Main Streets   
Baltimore Main Streets is a great place to do business!  Baltimore Main Streets provides customized support and public resources to designated neighborhood business districts.  Each Main Street organization works on a comprehensive strategy tailored to local needs and opportunities.

The Belair-Edison Community Association is an all-volunteer organization that addresses the needs of community members.  BENI and BECA collaborate on such issues as public safety and cleanliness, commercial development and zoning, and special events. Together, our neighborhood volunteers spruce up the community, watch out for one another, socialize, and take part in block improvement projects.

 Civic Works' mission is to build a future for Baltimore’s youth through community service and skills development. Every year, our corpsmembers spend a year or a summer in service to Baltimore, and in return, receive a modest living allowance, an education award that can be used for college or vocational school. Corpsmembers provide valuable services to city residents, like promoting energy efficiency through Project Lightbulb. To learn more about Civic Works and their programs, click here.

Herring Run Watershed Association 
HRWA works to improve our urban watershed by engaging citizens in learning about environmental issues and taking personal action for the preservation and restoration of the watershed. While they work in the entire watershed, HRWA pays special attention to their Baltimore home community of Belair-Edison, which they hope will become one of the greenest urban neighborhoods in Baltimore.

Live Baltimore
 Real Food Farm is Civic Works' innovative urban agricultural enterprise engaged in growing fresh produce on six acres of land in Clifton Park in northeast Baltimore. Real Food Farm works toward a just and sustainable food system by improving neighborhood access to healthy food, providing experience-based education, and developing an economically viable, environmentally responsible local agriculture sector.  St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center
St. Ambrose has partnered with BENI and is renovating foreclosed properties throughout Belair-Edison.  Since its founding in 1968, St. Ambrose has been committed to providing innovative, comprehensive housing services and quality affordable homes to meet the challenges facing vulnerable homeowners and neighborhoods.
