Youth Adult Block Projects
Do you want to make your block a beautiful block?  Do you want to do something positive for you, your neighbors, and the neighborhood?  Then, you should think about doing a block project.

BENI has funds available throughout Belair-Edison for projects that will

  • Enhance a block's appearance
  • Increase safety
  • Show off block pride

Block Project Criteria
These projects require the participation of young people and adults alike with the purpose of strengthening the neighborly bond of a block. Belair-Edison Neighborhoods, Inc. will supply funds for materials, but all labor must be volunteered. Other criteria required to receive funding include:

  • Participating blocks must be within the physical boundaries of the Belair-Edison community.
  • Completed project must be permanent and long lasting
  • Adult participants are for teaching the young people specific skills; maintaining a positive project atmosphere; making sure the young people are kept safe doing the project; and recording expenditures.
  • Labor must come from a minimum of three young people who reside in the community, but should include as many as possible
  • Minimum of two adults must work with the young people (if only three youth participants) or one adult for every five youth.
  • Include as many homes as possible on the block (prefer a 50% participation rate).
  • Budget cannot exceed $1,000; funds will pay for materials only.
  • All material purchases must have a receipt and come from a tax paying business.
  • Project should be started and finished by the same group.
